How
do I submit an item for rental?
Posting your listing correctly in
the database is essential to your success at PropCity.com. When first
entering your item for rental, you will be asked to supply keywords
which will be used by potential renters to find your item on the site.
It is not mandatory that you use numerous keywords, however it will
expand the possibilities in searching for props. PropCity.com also has
an index for searching, in the event users cannot locate what they are
looking for by using keyword searching.
For example: Let's say you have a
black and white 12 inch television set from the 1940's which you would
like to submit for rental. You will want to use the word television and
t.v. in your keywords. For example, five possible keywords would be 1.
black and white television. 2. black and white TV. 3. 1940's black and
white television 4. 1940's black and white t.v. 5. black and white 12
inch Magnavox television. Finally, be sure to use commas to separate
keywords and keyword phrases.

How
do I create an effective listing?
It is very important to have a
clear, well-lit photo of your item, write a complete and thorough
description and a reasonable price for your item. In order to increase
the likelihood that your prop will be found in the database, be as
elaborate as possible when composing your prop descriptions and use
keywords that pertain to the particular item you are renting and please
make sure you use words that are relevant to your item. In order to
eliminate problems and misunderstandings, we also recommend that you
include accurate information about the condition of the item, size,
dimensions, etc. Finally, after you list your prop, go to our search
page and run some test searches to make sure your prop comes up in the
searches you want people to find your item with. If the listing needs
modification or fine-tuning you may, at anytime, edit your prop listing
in the database.

What
price should I charge for my item or service?
Consider these suggestions:
- Use similar rental listings or other
examples you may know of as a starting point.
- Set a price that would be attractive
to you if you were the renter. If it's attractive to you, more than
likely, it will be attractive to others as well.
- If you're renting out an item that you
plan to replace after a while, set a price that would, over the
rental life of the item, cover most if not all of its purchase
price.
- For services, take into consideration
the value of your time. If you're filling free time, you probably
have a lot of flexibility in the price you set. If performing your
service would take time from something else, set a price that will
make it worth your trouble.
In general, try to
keep in mind a realistic sense of the demand for your item or service.
Unusual or unfamiliar things may benefit from a lower rental price, at
least until it catches on.

When is
the price negotiable?

How
do I hide a listing temporarily or make my listing unavailable to rent?
The easiest way to hide one of your
own listings temporarily is to reserve it yourself, as if you were the
one renting it. When you are ready to make the item available again,
simply delete the reservation from your PropCity.com Member Page.
